The Hobbit no trae mazos de Commander preconstruidos, pero sí deja un puñado de leyendas que parecen hechas para sentarse en la zona de mando. Lo interesante de este set es que sus mejores comandantes no solo empujan tribus o temas obvios: varios de ellos abren líneas de juego completas, desde tokens y tesoros hasta combos de maná, robo y recursión.

Por eso, más que hacer un ranking rígido, vale la pena mirar qué comandante sostiene mejor una estrategia, cuál ofrece más techo de poder y cuál puede ganar partidas sin necesitar demasiada ayuda externa. Con ese criterio, estos son los nombres que más destacan.

Smaug, the Impenetrable

Smaug, the Impenetrable es el comandante más explosivo del grupo porque convierte daño no de combate en Tesoro y además castiga a la mesa con una habilidad de ataque que escala con tus recursos acumulados. En una mesa de Commander llena de artefactos, sacrificios y efectos de daño distribuido, esa combinación se vuelve absurda muy rápido.

Su mayor virtud es que no necesita mucho para empezar a hacer ruido. Cartas como [mtg_card]Blasphemous Act[/mtg_card], [mtg_card]Star of Extinction[/mtg_card] y [mtg_card]Chain Lightning[/mtg_card] no solo ayudan a activar su plan, también pueden convertirse en motores de mana o incluso en líneas infinitas si el mazo está construido alrededor de eso.

Thranduil, the Strategist

[mtg_card]Thranduil, the Strategist[/mtg_card] es probablemente el comandante más limpio para un plan de ramp y tokens. Cada tierra que entra crea un Elfo, y esos Elfos además ayudan a convertir el mana en un tablero que crece solo; si el mazo incluye efectos de landfall, el resultado es una cadena de ventaja muy difícil de frenar.

Lo mejor de esta carta es que transforma hechizos de ramp normales en turnos de mucho más valor. Además, Bard no se queda solo en el plan de valor. La razón por la que entra en esta conversación es simple: cuando funciona, se siente como un motor de juego completo. La mejor parte de The Hobbit para Commander no es solo que trae cartas poderosas, sino que trae comandantes con identidades muy diferentes entre sí. Si quieres tokens y tesoros, Smaug es el rey. Si buscas ramp y mesa ancha, Thranduil the Strategist manda. Si prefieres motor de cartas y generación de recursos, Bard y Gandalf tienen mucho que decir.
