Ivan Espinosa y Ben Katz se llevaron a casa los trofeos de los Moderno 10K este fin de semana en el SCG CON Philadelphia, con ambos jugadores usando al menos cuatro colores en sus barajas.

Espinosa ganó el primero de dos Moderno 10K con Four-Color Control (Yorion), mientras que Katz ganó el segundo evento con Five-Color Indomitable Creativity. Los 767 jugadores que se registraron para Moderno se dividieron en dos eventos después de que el torneo inicial tuviera un límite de 400 jugadores. Los eventos se igualaron con el primer 10K con 381 jugadores y el segundo 10K con 386 jugadores.

Espinosa llegó al Top 8 del evento de 16 personas y tres formatos, coronándose en la NRG Series 2021, con un récord de 7-2. Espinosa se fue 3-0 con un mazo Golgari en el draft de Innistrad: Crimson Vow, luego se fue 1-1 en Legacy y Moderno para llegar a las rondas de eliminación.

La final comenzó con Espinosa ganando el Juego 1 de Moderno con Four-Color Blink (Yorion) sobre Hardened Scales de Tomsovic (Lurrus). Cambiaron a Legacy por el Juego 2, donde Tomsovic aseguró la victoria en el turno 4 con Selesnya Reclaimer contra Elfos gracias a que Marit Lage recibió protección contra verde a través de Sejiri Steppe. El juego 3 tampoco duró mucho ya que continuaron con Legacy y esta vez Espinosa ganó en el turno 3 gracias a un comienzo explosivo con múltiples copias de Gaea’s Cradle y un Natural Order para Craterhoof Behemoth.

Legacy fue el formato elegido para el cuarto juego y Tomsovic pudo ralentizar a Espinosa con The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale, pero no fue suficiente, ya que Espinosa lo superó encadenando su mazo hasta que encontró un Natural Order para tomar el partido 3-1.

Espinosa ganó $2,500 USD, una invitación al NRG Series Championship del próximo año y se clasificó para el Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Set Championship con su victoria.
